About mac-easyweb
mac-easyweb is an independent publication about running AI on Apple Silicon Macs. It exists because almost every tutorial online assumes an NVIDIA card, and Mac users deserve numbers that apply to their machine.
What we cover
Local language models (Ollama, LM Studio, MLX), image generation with ComfyUI, and the agent tooling around Claude Code and MCP. Everything is written for unified memory rather than dedicated VRAM, because that is the constraint Mac users actually hit.
How we test and estimate
Numbers on this site fall into two categories, and they are labelled differently:
- Measured. A figure produced on a specific machine, with the model, quantisation and context length stated in the article.
- Estimated. A figure derived from a model, not a benchmark run. The throughput estimate used by the model checker divides memory bandwidth by model size and applies a fixed efficiency factor. It is directionally useful and should not be treated as a benchmark.
Memory-fit guidance is based on the download size of a 4-bit quantisation plus headroom for macOS, the KV cache and other applications. Where we are unsure, we say so in the article instead of rounding to a confident number.
Editorial standards
- We do not publish invented benchmark tables or fabricated test results.
- Every guide names the macOS and model versions it was checked against.
- Outbound links go to official documentation or the project's own repository.
- Corrections are made in place and noted in the article's updated date.
Independence and funding
The site is funded by display advertising and, in future, affiliate links to hardware and services we actually use. Advertising is clearly labelled and never placed inside a recommendation as if it were editorial. Affiliate relationships, when they exist, are disclosed on the page where the link appears.
mac-easyweb is not affiliated with Apple Inc., Ollama, ComfyUI, Anthropic or any other vendor mentioned on the site.
